Trinity Resource Kit is a special LiveCD distribution of Linux that is specifically designed for recovery and repair operations. Its interface is a simple text menu which provides several tools that aid in the process of recovering files, resetting Windows passwords, junk file removal, and virus removal.

When TRK first boots up, it offers a variety of options in which to boot up. The first option is the default easy menu for TRK.

As mentioned before, the interface of TRK is a very simple text menu which can be navigated by pressing the 'up' and 'down' arrow keys. The menu has many different tools, though for the purposes of this review I will just be going over the ones that pertain to file recovery and computer maintenance.

Trinity Rescue Kit comes with five different virus removal programs: Clam AV, F-Prot, BitDefender, Vexira, and Avast. This is especially useful when a computer virus will not let you log onto windows or let you access your antivirus software. You can use TRK to remove the virus from your computer and then be able to access your computer again.

The Windows junkfile cleaning tool removes many of the miscellaneous, useless files, much like the Disk Cleaner tool in the System Tools folder of a Windows system. It allows the user to choose the destination which is desired to be cleaned, remove temporary files, empty all recycle bins, remove all uninstall folders from cumulative patches (only applies to Windows XP systems), empty the Windows dllcache folder, remove hanging printer jobs, and clean up javacache, either individually or all at once.

In addition, Trinity Resource Kit includes a tool called Winpass that allows users to reset their Windows administrator password if they forgot it or if it was compromised.

TRK also has the ability to back up and restore files with its interactive image backup utility, Pi, as well as replicate a computer by sending hard disk images over a network with the Mclone tool.
